Please help us to create an inspirational new book:
Memoirs of Medicine: One World, One People

All healthcare professionals, worldwide,
are encouraged to submit the most memorable short story of their career.

The Purpose
The purpose of the book Memoirs of Medicine: One World, One People is to share stories of medicine and people throughout the world. The idea is to illuminate the human aspects of life’s challenges in different parts of the world as seen by healthcare professionals in these different locations. Despite very different cultures and different conditions in different countries, we will discover the essential commonalities of living a human life.

These most memorable stories may talk about the experience of the caregiver, the patient, or their experience together. The stories might focus on a pure medical/disease topic, pure emotional topic, or any combination thereof.

Both patients and caregivers experience very real human emotions during their interactions: happiness, sadness, fear, confusion, the stark clarity of a situation, jealousy, love, kindness, sensitivity to others, joy of conquering adversity/challenge, steadfastness, hate, etc.

Worldwide sharing of these stories is facilitated by the internet. Through the use of email, medical stories will be solicited and evaluated for inclusion into the final book.

Eligibility to Be An Author

All caregivers and all healthcare organizers, worldwide, are encouraged to submit a short story. Caregivers include physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, counselors, psychotherapists, ministers, priests, psychologists, chiropractors, physician assistants, social workers, public health personnel, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, audiologists, optometrists, nutritionists, emergency medical technitions, pharmacists, podiatrists, dentists, and acupuncturists. Any person whose full-time work is giving or organizing care for people is a candidate to write their most memorable story. Students of all healthcare professions are encouraged to submit their stories as well.

The Stories

The story we are requesting you to tell us is the most memorable story of your healthcare professional career. These kinds of stories will include the following:

 • The most emotional interaction with a patient: high, low, or otherwise. Think of a time
spacewhen you have cried or laughed with a patient.

 • The greatest personal learning and growth for you, the caregiver, or for your patient.

 • The greatest challenge of diagnosis or therapy for you, the caregiver, or for your patient.

 • The most difficult situation and resolution for you, the caregiver, or for your patient.

The Goal
By combining these stories into one collection, Memoirs of Medicine will become a book to be enjoyed by a worldwide audience. We hope to offer both hardbound and electronic versions of the book; electronic versions will enable efficient worldwide distribution.
Worldwide Email...
Please forward an email to your caregiver friends in your country as well as all parts of the world. You can send an email which includes our website: www.memoirsofmedicine.com. We encourage your friends to forward this website to their caregiver friends. Through this technique, we hope to reach very large numbers of caregivers around the world in as many countries as possible.
